MEET THE CHEF
After a successful career as an architect, Ana Luiza Godoy fell in love with the culinary and art worlds, which led her to become the chef and entrepreneur she is today. Her other talents are quite artistic too: she plays piano and is a mosaic artist.
As an entrepreneur, she and a then business partner owned and operated several cafés and small bistros in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. These establishments were always connected to museums or cultural venues, such as the famous "Academia Brasileira de Letras", in downtown Rio. In 2000, Ana Luiza and her partners opened a bistro in the Casa França-Brasil, which was rated by Veja Rio magazine as one of the best bistros in 2002.
In 2004, Ana Luiza Godoy moved to the Washington, DC area, and soon after she founded Fine Gastronomy, a very successful catering service for big events targeting international organizations. In 2013 she took a sabbatical to accompany her husband on a work assignment in Ankara, Turkey. While living in Ankara, she learned the art of mosaic, cooked for refugees as a volunteer for UNRS, learned how to communicate in Turkish and added Middle Eastern cuisine to her culinary repertoire. Upon her return to the States in 2015, she opened a new catering business, this time focusing more on personalized events influenced by her travels around the world.
